A useful answer starts with a question we can check.
We investigate difficult questions, organize evidence and explain what it means for the decision in front of you.

When the urgent step is hard to find.
Our public-service design study examines Michigan’s unemployment transition information: what the supplied page made visible, what the official guidance added and what a person needed to do.
The study separates source material, our assessment and a proposed design. It is a historical review of the November 2026 transition, with dates and limits you can inspect.
Follow the evidence in the studyIndependent research and design study. Current claim information belongs to the official agency.
Make the question useful.
- Start with a decision. What do you need to understand or choose? Who is affected, and what could change as a result?
- Put the record in order.Identify the source, date and context. Keep an observation separate from an interpretation or an unanswered question.
- Explain the consequence.Show what the evidence supports, where it stops and what further information could change the next step.
Our data practices explain how we handle source material. Our methods show the wider approach.
