The production recommendation

Build a dedicated printing and fabrication workshop with a commercial sheet-label printer, a separate wide-format invitation printer, two matching enclosed printers, and proper cutting, creasing, packing and inspection stations. Keep the two machines on the same qualified profiles and spare-parts system so a repair does not stop the whole line.

The working demand assumption is 10,000 labels, 250 invitations and 250 small printed parts per month. These are separate outputs, not confirmed orders. A 48-label HomeHub moving kit consumes the same label inventory: 250 moving kits alone need 12,000 labels. Use the TAGD capacity planner to compare that workload before scheduling both.

The $11,450 planning envelope below covers the repeat-production workshop and initial stock. Custom carton manufacturing, replacement laser toner, freight and installation still need quotes. It is not an all-in factory price. The earlier $1,259.59 figure described a reused home printer and small prototype bench; it is superseded for this production scope. The immediate $4,291.93 computer/ request and Dreamlab’s dated expansion scenario remain separate.

High-resolution Avery printing

The conditional front-runner is the HP Color LaserJet Enterprise 6700dn: maximum 1200 × 1200 dpi, rated 55 Letter pages/minute and a recommended 2,000–14,000 monthly pages. Its plain-paper speed is not a label-production rate. At 24 labels per sheet, 10,000 labels occupy 417 sheets before extra stock, so registration, feeding, code inspection and packing matter more than the headline page speed. HP specifications

Use Avery 22805 as the defined paper-label route: 1.5-inch square, 24 per Letter sheet, laser/inkjet compatible. The reviewed HP documentation did not establish an approved tray procedure for this exact stock. Obtain that procedure and run final-art sheets before selecting the machine. The $1,500 machine figure is an allowance. The selected replacement toner quote is for W2140Z, W2141Z, W2142Z and W2143Z; included starter toner does not eliminate replenishment costs. Keep approved TAGD artwork sharp and at its exact dimensions. Do not substitute invented artwork, stretch a code, crop its quiet zone or use a photo of a code. Inspect both the printed target and its human-readable identifier. A printer’s dpi specification alone cannot establish scan reliability.

Invitations, packaging and actual box manufacturing

Select an Epson Expression Photo HD XP-15000 for the invitation print station: six-color ink and output up to 13 × 19 inches. Its specialty rear feed makes it a practical candidate for the assumed 250-invitation workload; qualify the exact stock, dry time, feed reliability and measured batch duration. It is not an industrial packaging press. Pair it with a Dahle 552 trimmer, a current manual creaser, folding/assembly jigs and cold-lamination supplies. The trimmer’s plain-paper stack rating does not establish card-stack capacity. Epson, Dahle

There are two packaging capabilities to fund:

  • Repeatable invitation kits now: print cards and branded sleeves; trim, crease, fold and assemble in house. Use purchased blank mailers while custom carton equipment is selected. The current budget carries 300 standard 9 × 6 × 2 inch mailers for a 250-invitation scenario; the sample contents must fit before that size is accepted. A folded or small invitation can use this mailer. Full Letter moving-kit label sheets need a separate flat sleeve/mailer and must not be folded to fit it.
  • Custom cartons made from sheet stock: add a professional digital cutter/creaser, compatible board, dieline software, adhesives, spare blades, cutting surfaces and an assembly station. The Duplo DPC-2024 is a quote candidate for light folding cartons, with cut/kiss-cut/score tooling and substrates up to 350 gsm. Its published input specification is 8.5 × 11 to 20.87 × 29.53 inches. The dealer must reconcile conflicting marketing dimensions and prove our dieline on the proposed board. Duplo DPC-2024

Corrugated shipping-box conversion needs a different class of cutter: Duplo DPC-600 PKG with the appropriate oscillating-knife configuration is a candidate to quote. Confirm substrate thickness, tooling, service, space, electrical requirements and actual boxes per hour. Heavy board and corrugated sheets are not established media for the Epson. Start with printed sleeves/applied graphics; direct-to-board printing or larger printed cartons require a separately matched print process. The cutter cannot print a box. Duplo packaging cutter, blank mailer basis

No professional carton price was established in this research. That missing quote is part of the equipment request, not a zero-dollar line. A hobby craft cutter is not being presented as the mass-production carton solution.

Two enclosed printers and a material system

Specify two assembled Prusa CORE One+ machines, observed at $1,299 each, with a 250 × 220 × 270 mm build envelope. Matching machines simplify profile validation and spare parts. A Bambu Lab P2S is a lower-cost enclosed alternative to compare on support, service, material profiles and network requirements; its indexed $549 U.S. price still needs a checkout/availability check. Prusa, Bambu P2S

Proposed opening inventory: 8 kg , 3 kg and 1 kg , within the $600 filament/spares allowance. serves exterior identifiers and token bodies; serves fixtures and shape models; is reserved for a measured flexible-fit need. Include spare standard nozzles, build surfaces, cleaning supplies and retained inspection coupons. The exact cart may change the allowance. Store spools by material and lot in sealed dry storage; use a suitable dryer when required by the material.

Start with the manufacturer’s material profile, standard 0.4 mm nozzle and a 0.2 mm layer trial. Validate dimensions, orientation, retention, sharp edges and surface finish for each part. Save /, /, slicer/profile revision, material lot, mass, time and first-article inspection. Apply a separately verified printed TAGD face; fine codes do not become reliable merely by printing them in filament.

The capacity model assumes a 25 g part, 30 minutes of print time and 20% extra material/time. 250 parts require about 7.5 kg and 150 scheduled machine-hours. Two machines split that to 75 hours each. At 1,000 parts, the model reaches 30 kg and 600 machine-hours: 300 hours each, beyond a simple 160-hour monthly attended schedule. Use measured plate nesting, more machines or qualified outside capacity before accepting that order volume. These figures are unmeasured planning assumptions, not a slicer benchmark.

Provide separate dry print/pack and fabrication stations, stable benches, suitable circuits, clear access and a room ventilation assessment. Keep /, resin and filled filaments outside the opening material plan. An enclosure alone does not control every emission; installation must follow the selected room design and manufacturer guidance. Apparel heat-press/embroidery capability and the separate computer request are outside this workshop total. Do not add the old starter bench or overlapping $50 test-material request to it.

The work that makes the equipment useful

Give one operator responsibility for job release, stock lots, calibration, first-article approval, code reconciliation and packing. Schedule print/finish work separately from machine-hours. A proposed moving-kit model uses 9.1 hands-on minutes per kit plus 10% labor reserve: roughly 42 hours for 250 kits and 167 hours for 1,000. At an illustrative $25/hour, that is about $1,043 or $4,171, before payroll burden, design, support and shipping. Invitation assembly needs its own timed sample; it cannot inherit moving-kit labor.

Track each batch from approved artwork and identifier manifest through print, inspection, finishing and packing. Reconcile every identifier as accepted, rework or void. Count inventory in whole packs, record consumed material separately, and keep replacement parts and critical consumables above measured replenishment lead time. Reorder rules follow actual demand and supplier timing, not a fixed invented number.

The first physical qualification is a commissioning step for this production system. It does not reduce the ambition to a five-item pilot. Release repeat batches only after exact-stock registration, scan, durability, packaging and the relevant TAGD/HomeHub experience pass. Then time a representative run and set a realistic weekly order limit.

Any labels included in invitations must be counted against the 10,000-label pool or added separately before buying stock. The sample assortment is still to be specified.
